GLORIOUS HOPE Like Morning Has Come, this song is meant to help us see Christmas in light of God’s full Story of redemption. The song is written to us as “traveling pilgrims”… Abraham was wandering, lost, and alone. God graciously spoke to Him, and gave him direction. He made a promise to Abraham that he would be the father of many nations. Paul tells us that Abraham was the first of a family of faith: those who took God at His Word, and believed the promises that He made.
The ultimate fulfillment of the promise was one that Abraham didn’t see, but believed. That promise was realized when God sent His Son to be the Savior of the world. Abraham saw that day. He had hope that the glory of God would be revealed.
But we realized the hope of the glory of God revealed in Person! “The Word was made flesh, and dwelled among us, and we saw His glory”! (John 1) There is an even greater hope. Paul says in Colossians 1 that the ultimate mystery is “Christ in you, the hope of glory.” Christ not only is God with us, but the Spirit of Christ came to dwell in us! The Spirit of Christ has been given to believers as a down payment, a promise that one day we will see His face. One day we will dwell with Him. Glorious Hope…a hope full of the glory of God.
